Very often this days we hear the word “religion”. Mostly, it carries the negative sense. When people talk about religion they mean something bad. I looked for definition of “religion” and found out it is not so bad. “Religion” – means “respect for what is sacred, reverence for the God, obligation, the bond between man and the God”. In our church, we do not consider ourselves religious, but we teach people to have respect for God and worship Him, and nourish the bond between man and the God. Who says that we are not obligated to God, dependent on Him, and, at the end, be judged by Him? Who will agree that your children are not obligated to you and there is no need for obedience, respect and bonds between you and your children because you love them? We are His children and God’s love is not excuse for us to disrespect God, His word, and even His Church! Am I religious?
We believe that Church of Jesus Christ is existing on this earth for specific reasons. It is not only to collect goods needed for this life. It is not only to live comfortable life. We know at least three reasons why we stay here as a church. First one is to worship God among the men. God, through Jesus Christ gave us something new, that nether our forefathers, nor we would expect from God. We, gentiles by nature, never have imagined that some day we would be the Priests of Most High God. And now we have entered the priesthood by the grace of Jesus Christ and we can worship the God above all gods and King of kings. Second reason why we are in this world is to serve one another in love of God. We need somebody, who can serve us and help us to grow constantly throughout whole life. We need somebody, who can discipline and encourage us all the time. Only brothers and sisters in Christ can do this to us. And third, very important reason we, as a church, are here is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people, nations and tongues. God gave us the power to be his witnesses in this world. God equipped us with everything we need so we could do his work to bring souls into His Kingdom. Kingdom of God must grow and fill the earth. Therefore, if someone, who is called by the name of Jesus Christ, does nothing to expand the Kingdom of God, he destroys it. Jesus once said: “He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me, scatters.”(Lk.11:23) So, we encourage every christian to do what he can to gather with Jesus. We as, a church, on our part will do anything possible to become a Missionary Church, which is able to work for Kingdom of God in our own city, country, and abroad. God is with us!
On the first Sunday of each month we have Communion service. Bible says we need to remember the death of our Lord Jesus Christ until he comes again. But we have to understand that this is not the service of grieve and sorrow. Instead, this is the celebration of the Victory of our Lord Jesus Christ over death and power of darkness. He included us in His Victory, so we would be victorious in our life. He forgave our sins in the past, but not only that. He has set us free from our future obligations to the flesh, as Bible says: “So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh-for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” (Rom.8:12,13)
