Children’s Choir
Children’s Choirs
In order for children to see and understand the importance of being active members at church, they must become involved themselves at an early age. For this reason, our church has a children’s choir program where all kids are welcome and encouraged to join. Responsible for this service is Yelena Kravtsova along with the gracious help of her assistants. The objective of the children’s choirs is so that children will become knowledgeable and appreciate music and singing, while learning responsibility and the importance of church involvement. The children’s choirs share their program at church by performing on holidays and other set dates.
The following information is an outline of the practices of the children’s choirs:
• Older Children’s Choir (ages 9-14)
•Practice is every Sunday evening 6:00-7:00 p.m.
• Younger Children’s Choir (ages 5-8)
•During the first hour of Sunday evening church 6:00-7:00, the younger children go into a classroom and learn words to the choir songs with Vera Brutskaya.
•During the second hour 7:00-8:00, the younger children have their children’s choir practice.
• Parents, if your child will recite a poem for a performance, it is important I have a copy of that poem as soon as possible so that I can include your child in the program.
• Before every performance, there is a final practice on the Monday of that week 7:00-8:30 p.m. The entire program is rehearsed from the beginning to the end. By this time, children should know all the songs and have memorized their poems.
Dear parents, in order for the church program of our children’s choirs to run smoothly and successfully, it is critical that you partake in this service with your child. Please help your child learn the words of songs and poems, remind them to bring all necessary material to practices (e.g. folders with songs), and bring them on time and regularly. Remember, the greatest influence comes not from words alone but from personal example.
“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Proverbs 22:6
